GPS was hired to help Roy Cooper take on a historic task: defeat an incumbent governor for the first time in North Carolina history.

When GPS joined the team, the majority of the list was inactive and the size was declining — but GPS proposed an aggressive acquisition, reactivation, and engagement program that grew the list to a total of 217,530 email addresses.

Between January 2015 and Election Day 2016, GPS helped the Cooper campaign raise $1,547,977 from 42,737 online donations of $250 or less. The average donation was $36.22, and donors returned to make contributions, each donating an average of 2.41 times.

In the 2014-2016 election cycles, only two Democratic gubernatorial candidates were successful in defeating Republican incumbent governors — Tom Wolf in Pennsylvania and Roy Cooper in North Carolina — and GPS had the privilege of working for both.
