Media Buyer (TV + Cross-Screen Media)

SUMMARY: The Media Buyer will work in a collaborative environment developing multi-channel cross-screen media plans for clients as well as new client prospects. In addition to demonstrated experience in broadcast, cable, and digital channels, individuals in this position should be passionate about planning and executing advertising campaigns for political campaigns in a fast-paced environment. GPS Impact is operating at the leading edge of data-driven cross-screen media planning and placement to deliver the right message, to the right audience, at the right time on the ideal screen. The Media Planner/Buyer will be responsible for delivering on that data-driven vision. The Media Buyer will work with Media, Account Services, Creative, Digital, and other staff to serve our GPS Impact clients. This individual should excel in client presentations and in developing partnerships with media contacts. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop media objectives and strategies to meet campaign objectives, particularly in ways that are across all screens
  • Understanding the intersection of traditional spot television, programmatic/connected television, and digital channels
  • Research, analyze and apply consumer and voter insights to determine media solutions
  • Demonstrate objectivity when recommending
  • Collaborate with staff from all departments to develop effective solutions
  • Maintain and monitor client media budgets
  • Effectively negotiate media buys and actively seek added value opportunities when appropriate
  • Track audience delivery for all buys, monitor and report on competitive media, reconcile invoice discrepancies, negotiate makegoods, and report results
  • Monitor client competitive activity
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge of innovations, theories, and practices pertaining to media functions and inform other interested or affected Agency departments
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION: BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Political Science, Economics, or related field

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of multi-media planning and buying; agency experience preferred
  • Freewheel (Strata) software proficiency required
  • Experience directing spot delivery, confirmations and other buying processes
  • Experience planning and negotiating complex media plans including Hispanic/Spanish Language media
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Google Docs skills, with an ability to become familiar with firm-specific programs and software
  • Strong working knowledge of standard media resources and tools
  • Comfortable working at a smaller political agency in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have the discipline to work independently and in team settings
  • Able to develop own ideas, take initiative and assume responsibility

  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and organization
  • Able to work well under pressure with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Media Buying: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Strata (similar software): 2 years (Required)
  • Advertising: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Political Campaign Experience: 2-4 years (Preferred)
