Front-End Developer

GPS Impact has a great opportunity for a full-time Developer looking to join a progressive public affairs firm! The role of this creative is to develop WordPress websites to be used in a variety of creative projects. You will be responsible for installation, building the custom template, building/adapting custom plugins and formatting across mediums. In addition to communication, project and time management skills, research, problem-solving and presentation skills are required. The ability to work creatively and quickly always meeting quality and accuracy standards is essential. Must be a team player who can handle and incorporate constructive criticism into their work daily. As a developer you will be working closely with our Creative Director, Project Managers and Principals to get approvals on final designs. Individual will be able to work from our Des Moines or Kansas City office. Include resume, cover letter and portfolio.

Job Requirements –

Required –
Minimum of 3 years of web programming and production experience.

Ability to hand code HTML and CSS (including latest HTML5 & CSS3 features), familiarity with responsive design and coding HTML emails.

Familiarity with JavaScript and jQuery.

Installation, management and custom template creation of WordPress.

Installation, configuration and customization of WordPress plugins.

Demonstrate hands-on skills in the latest Adobe Creative Suite. Proficient with Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop.

Must present a killer portfolio with variety of industries and deliverables represented.

Have the ability to manage multiple projects and remain flexible through multiple revisions while keeping a keen attention to detail.

Possess strong communication skills (verbal and written), and be a self-starter.

Must be capable of working from a developed wireframe concept and adapting that concept as needed.

Must be organized, reliable, detail-oriented and able to follow up on tasks.

Capable of multitasking, prioritizing, managing time efficiently and meeting deadlines.

Must be able to work in a professional, fast-paced and team environment.

Desired –

Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field.

Familiarity with popular advocacy platforms like NGP, BSD Tools, NationBuilder, etc.

Working knowledge of Git

Working knowledge of APIs

General knowledge of the LAMP stack and server management using WHM/cPanel

General knowledge of UI frameworks like Bootstrap or Foundation

Ability to write custom PHP functions to extend the use of WordPress.
